Agriculture and fishing

Growing, raising, and harvesting biological resources.

Biology makes timing part of the production system. Land, water, weather, stock health, and harvest windows constrain output before a product reaches a processor or buyer. A production cycle can take a season or several years; a sale and the cash needed to fund that cycle rarely arrive together.

What to look for

Compare yield with input intensity, biological risk, and the ability to store or preserve output. Farming and fishing share exposure to natural systems, but property rights, replenishment, and harvest methods differ. Food manufacturing belongs in manufacturing.
