Wholesale distribution
Moving goods between producers and business buyers.
Distributors aggregate supply, hold inventory, break bulk, extend credit, and help business customers obtain the right item on time. Some take ownership of products; agents and brokers instead earn a fee for arranging a transaction. Those models have different balance sheets.
What to look for
A low gross margin can support a viable business when stock turns quickly and service costs are controlled. Examine fill rate, product breadth, warehouse handling, supplier terms, and customer credit together. Direct-to-consumer retail is covered separately.
